Allan Williams

London Metropolitan University, Reino Unido

Professor of European Integration and Globalisation at London Metropolitan University and Adjunct Professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Since his Ph.D degree at London School of Economics and Political Studies in 1975, has dedicated his life to being a Professor and researcher in the fields of Human Geography, European Integration and Tourism, among others.

He was also awarded the Health prize of the Royal Geographical Society.

Doctorate from Bournemouth University, United Kingdom, is a coordinator of the degree in Tourism at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. He also coordinates various projects in tourism to the European Commission and is also an external expert for national projects.

Christian Bataillou

University of Perpignan, France

Professor and researcher at the University of Perpignan, holds a doctorate in Sociology and a master degree in Law. He is an expert of the WTO in sustainable tourism, culture and heritage, with an extensive experience as coordinator of master and doctorate degrees and as director of research teams.

Douglas Pearce

University of Wellington, New Zeland

Douglas Pearce is Professor of Tourism Management in the Victoria Management School, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has more than thirty years teaching, research and consulting experience in many aspects of tourism. Douglas recently completed a major project on tourism distribution and currently is assessing different approaches to tourism research. He is a fellow and former vice-president of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism and serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals, including the Annals of Tourism Research.

Eugénio dos Santos

Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, with a five-year degree, a master, doctorate and aggregation in history. Eugénio dos Santos is author of several papers, books and scientific presentations. He is also the director of the Centre of Communication Sciences and researcher on issues related to history of Portugal and Brasil. He is also a professor at ISCET.

Gregory Ashworth

Since 1994, Professor of heritage management and urban tourism in the Department of Planning, Faculty of Spatial Sciences, University of Groningen (NL). Main research interests include heritage management, tourism planning and place marketing. Ashworth is the author of several acclaimed books and scientific papers.

José A. Rio Fernandes

FLUP/ CEGOT, Portugal

Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, coordinator of the doctoral programme in Geography and of the research programme “Cities” at CEGOT (Centre for studies of Geography and Territory Planning). He is also Chairman of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Association of Geographers and author of more than a hundred papers and a hundred of presentations at scientific meetings.

Doctorate in Business Economics (specialization in Strategic Planning in Tourism) from the University of Santiago of Compostela, Spain, with a post-graduation in Industrial Quality and International Businesses from the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra, coordinates the master degree in Tourism and Business Development and the post-graduation in Tourism and Hotel Management. He is also the executive director and researcher at the Centre of Interdisciplinary Investigation and of Community Intervention (CIIIC).

Luís Figueira

Doctorate in History of Art, professor and coordinator of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, director of the Department of Culture and Tourism Management, and scientific director of the master degree in Product Development of Cultural Tourism. He is also the technical Director of the Agricultural Museum of Riachos. At the moment attends a post-doctoral course in Tourism at the University of Aveiro.

Associate professor of Marketing at the School of Tourism and Hotel Management of the University of Mugla, Turkey, with a doctorate in Tourism, from the Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom. His work on “Tourism and Quality” was considered one of the best scientific works by the European Foundation for Quality Management for the years 2000/2001 and he was also recognised as one of the most productive researchers in the field of tourism in the scientific world by the Tourism Management Journal.

Michael Hall

Professor of Marketing and Tourism at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, doctorate from the University of West Australia, in Perth and author of over 40 books and 250 scientific papers.

Michel Maffesoli

University Paris Descartes, Sorbonne, Paris

Member of University Institute of France, professor of Sociology at the University of Paris Descartes-Sorbonne, doctorate in sociology and humanities, doctor “Honoris Causa” by the University of Bucarest, Romania, author of numerous prestigious books, was awarded the “Légion d’Honneur”, the highest French decoration and also the winner of the Grand Prize of Human Sciences attributed by the “Academie Française”, in 1992.

Rachid Amirou

Amirou is Professor at the University of Perpignan and Lecturer at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 and the Institut Catholique de Paris. He is also head of group discussion on the Tourism Foundation Concorde and member of the National Tourism Board.

London Metropolitan Business School, United Kingdom

Stephen Page is a Senior Professor in Sustainable Tourism Management at London Metropolitan Business School, London. Prior to joining the University in 2010, he was Scottish Enterprise Professor of Tourism Management at the University of Stirling. He is the author, editor and co-author of 33 books on tourism and leisure and co-editor of the top tourism journal - Tourism Management.

Tomaz Dentinho

Lecturer and researcher at the University of Azores in the fields of regional economy, environment and land management, doctorate in Economics at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom, coordinates the master degree in Management of Nature Conservation.
