In times of accelerated transformation, the traditional paradigms of tourism are being confronted with new global challenges and disruptive opportunities.
The climate crisis, digitalisation, changes in mobility and consumer behavior patterns, and the growing pressure on destinations all demand a radical rethink of how we approach, plan and manage tourism.
INTUR 2026 – Congress on Tourism Futures – has emerged in this context. The congress aims to provide an international platform for critical reflection, solution development and knowledge sharing among academia, professionals, decision-makers and the community.
To be held in the city of Porto and organised by ISCET – Instituto Superior de Ciências Empresariais e do Turismo, INTUR 2026 will explore emerging trends in leisure, marketing and innovation through a multidisciplinary and international scientific programme. With the support of institutional and academic partners, and associated publications in indexed scientific journals, the event aims to become a fixture in the European calendar of tourism studies.
The central mission of INTUR 2026 is to foster a space for meetings, dialogue and cooperation among researchers, students, professionals and decision-makers operating across the various dimensions of the tourism sector from a forward-looking perspective.
Its main objectives are:
- To critically reflect on emerging trends in tourism at a global level, analysing their applicability and impact in local, regional and national contexts;
- To bring together academics, industry professionals and policy-makers in a collaborative environment that promotes the sharing of experiences, best practices and research results;
- To strengthen ISCET’s scientific brand, projecting its role as a higher education institution dedicated to strategic thinking about tourism and its structuring link with the territory and the business fabric;
- To consolidate INTUR as a benchmark scientific event, stimulating international debate on the future of tourism, with an academic, social and economic impact on the city of Porto and the country.
- With a diverse scientific body and spanning ten major thematic areas, INTUR 2026 aims to generate relevant knowledge, inspire new practices, and contribute to making tourism more innovative, sustainable, inclusive, and intelligent.
